Historical Society

Mountville1894Part of the legacy the 2014 Mountville 200 Bicentennial celebration has been the establishment of the Mountville Historical Society. The mission of the Society is to oversee the Mountville Museum and its collections, preserve and research Mountville history, and provide resources to educate Mountville residents on the borough’s past to aid in charting a course for the future.

The Society members serve on a strictly volunteer basis, and all share a love for Mountville and its history.

The Mountville Museum is located in the old 1901 school building at 2 College Avenue, and will be open to the public 1-3 pm on Sunday, December 14th. Currently, the history of sports in Mountville is the featured exhibit. The museum will be closed during January, February, and March to allow for the changing out of displays in preparation for its re-opening on Sunday, April 12th, from 1-4 pm. The featured exhibit in 2015 will be centered on Mountville’s long history of armed forces veterans.

The museum does not charge admission, and welcomes donations of artifacts related to the history of Mountville.
